A federal judge in New York has sided with entertainment producers who claimed that Cablevision's network-based remote-storage digital video recorder system violated copyright infringement laws. The judge, in , permanently enjoined Cablevision from proceeding with technology that would have allowed its customers who do not have digital video recorders in their homes to record and play back programs stored on central servers at Cablevision's facilities.
