Responding to a trend of outsourcing legal services to other countries, three bar associations in the last year have issued opinions that aim to provide ethical guidelines for lawyers. The opinions range from advising attorneys when they must inform clients that work is being outsourced to charging "appropriate" fees. "I certainly would not be surprised if other bar associations took up the issue," says Paul Dutka, who chairs the New York City bar association's Committee on Professional and Judicial Ethics.
