The UN General Assembly adopts the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples - Update to ASIL Insight Vol. 10, Issue 19
On September 13, 2007, the UN General Assembly adopted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (?Declaration?). The adoption came after more than a year of delays in the General Assembly, and represented the culmination of more than 20 years of work. Implementation of the provisions of the Declaration is currently under discussion at the UN Human Rights Council. This Insight is an update on a previous Insight published August 14, 2006 and provides an overview of the new UN Declaration.
