On October 23, 2007, the United Nations Security Council held its sixth Open Debate to assess progress in the implementation of Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. Resolution 1325 addresses the impact of conflict on women, recognizes women's role in preventing and resolving conflict, and calls for the equal participation and full involvement of women in efforts to maintain and promote peace and security.
