In a set of videos posted on the Web, all but one of the Supreme Court justices speak passionately into the camera as they answer questions about brief writing, oral advocacy and their love-hate relationships with the written word. Lawyers who make a living trying to fathom the justices' preferences have watched the videos at length, transfixed by the words of the normally private justices. It is as if the College of Cardinals had suddenly decided to go on camera to unlock the secrets of choosing a pope.
