The legal field is an ever-more demanding profession in which practitioners have less time for families or citizenship activities that have been lawyers' traditional obligation, concludes a unanimously adopted report by a committee of the New York State Bar Association. Says the committee's chairwoman: "The culture that we have created to accommodate our clients -- 24/7, 365, instant response, letting technology rule, the billable hour and a little bit, maybe, of greed -- has added up to the enemy is us."
